Volkswagen- the German manufacturer of automobiles are well known for their innovative technologies. Recently, four VW models at once were awarded the best grade of "top safety pick" in the most recent publication of the independent US safety institute, "Insurance Institute for Highway Safety". Volkswagen did not stop finding new technologies to make cars ride safer and operate more efficiently. VW has introduced 4 new innovative parts. These VW parts promise more “Innovative and intelligent comfort than ever”. 4. The TSI The new TSI engine is equipped with a turbocharger and a supercharger in combination. Its downsizing leads to economy, with 14% more power than the 2.0 FSI but consuming 5% less fuel. The mechanical compressor operates at low engine speeds below 2400 rpm to increase low-end power, the turbocharger engages at middle revs, a clutch disengages the supercharger which will then be bypassed once the turbocharger reaches sufficient speed to provide boost above 3500 rpm. 3. The Intelligent 4MOTION The 4MOTION system is an intelligent 4 wheel drive mechanism that improves traction and provides a reassuring sense of safety, even in bad weather or on rough roads, which enhances driving pleasure. Currently this 4MOTION system is only available with VW models like Golf R32, Tiguan, Passat V6 Highline, Passat R36 and Touareg. This technology will be made available in all the cars that VW manufactures in future. 2. The Dual Clutch Gearbox The Dual Clutch Gear box (DSG) is a new VW part that combines the sportiness and fuel-efficiency of a manual transmission with the comfort of an automatic transmission. Volkswagen is the first manufacturer to develop a dual-clutch gearbox ready for production. DSG engineers revolutionized gearbox design by matching the agility and fun of a manual transmission with the ease and convenience of an automatic. With the DSG, there is virtually no interruption to power, traction or acceleration. And as an additional benefit, the DSG transmission has significantly lower fuel consumption in comparison with a conventional automatic transmission. 1. RNS510-The latest Innovation The RNS510 an optional VW part is a state-of-art navigation system for Volkswagens. Easily operated using a touch sensitive display, the high-resolution screen displays maps and delivers brilliant color photo and video quality. Travel maps can be viewed in 2D, topographic or 3D bird’s eye view, and a split-screen feature is also available, making it even easier to choose the right route to your destination. With an impressive 30GB of hard drive capacity and built-in DVD drive, your MP3/WMA music library and navigation data is available at your fingertips.
